Louvre Attack Leaves Paris Fearing New Blow to Tourism

img-20170223-wa0003
Friday's machete attack on soldiers at the Louvre was the first 'terrorist attack' at a tourist landmark in Paris. What does this mean for the falling tourist numbers in the French capital?
When a machete-weilding man was shot down by a soldier on Friday morning in a shopping centre at the Louvre museum, it marked another stage in the recent wave of terror attacks to hit Paris and France. Even though only the attacker was left seriously hurt, the incident marked the first time that a terrorist style attack was carried out at a tourist hot spot in the French capital, something the government, the City Hall and tourism Chiefs in Paris have long feared.
There was a warning in September when a car packed with Canisters was found next to Notre Dame Cathedral in the what proved to be a failed terror attack by Female jihadists. There have also been numerous other warnings and plots, including one to attack Disneyland Paris.

While the government and Paris city chiefs insist the foiled attack shows their security operation works well, the images of soldiers surrounding the attacker on a staircase leading to the Louvre museum, one of the most famous attractions in the world, will do little to reassure potential visitors. Visitors numbers have already been shrinking since the devastating attacks on the capital's bars and the Bataclan music venue in November 2015 showing that not only the Louvre, that has been hit.

An August report noted a 3.9 percent drop in traffic through Charles de Gaulle airport, an 11 percent drop in visitors to Disneyland Paris, and a 14.6 percent drop in the number of Paris hotel reservations.
Another report found that Paris tourism has lost $750 million since terror attacks. The president of the region's tourist bureau called it an 'industrial catastrophe' at the time. City chiefs were forced to appeal to tourists to follow the example of locals and not be scared.

The timing of Friday's attack is terrible for Paris authorities, who will be officially launching their 2024 Olympic bid on Friday night at the Eiffel tower, in front of the world's media. Their job of promising a safe Olympic Games in 2024 has been undermined on a day when a section of Central Paris was on lock down because of a machete weilding terrorist.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo is determined to bring the games to Paris 100 years after they were last held in the Capital. She tried to play down the idea of Paris being particular target by noting that the French Capital was not alone when it came to terror threats.

Guangzhou Circle, Guangzhou, Southern China

The Guangzhou circle is a landmark building located in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, China. It is the headquarters of the Hongda Xingye Group and the new home of Guangdong Plastic Exchange, the world largest trading center for raw plastic material with more than 25 billions euros of annual turn over.
Aside from the cafes and restaurants inside of it, looking like a doughnut, the flashy rich people's circle, as the local Guangzhou residents have dubbed it, is a center of attraction for tourists coming from outside the country.

The building was designed by Italian architect Joseph di Pasquale, The total height is 138 meters for 33 stories, 85,000 square meters of floor area and about 1 billion (70 million dollars) of global investment.
Unlike another circular building in China, the central core is open, with no glass. It is the world's tallest circular building and with the unique feature of its almost fifty meters wide empty hole in the center.
This skyscraper, which glitters on the banks of the Pearl River is a sight to see for all those travelling into China.
You've not really enjoyed China if you've not gazed at this beautiful creation

Idanre Hills Tourist Centre I Visited

IDANRE HILLS(OKE-IDANRE)
idanre_hills
Located in Idanre Town, about 24 kilometres southwest of Akure, Ondo State capital, the ancient Idanre Hills had been a home for the Idanre community for almost 100 years.
One of my most tourist-demanded sites on the hills is the Agboogun foot print, which is described a human foot print naturally carved on a rock surface. The foot print is said to fit the size of any ones feet except that of people with witchcraft . 'Seeing is believing' for it has been used by the indigenes to detect “witches” in the Idanre community.
idanre-law-court
History made it known that indigenes use to live at Idanre Hills Tourist Center. This area called the old magistrate court, the first primary school which was established as far back as 1896,an intiative led by Rev. Gilbert Carter, a missionary, the Oba’s palace and the market square hold their original place and location at Odeja Village, Old Oke-Idanre. It was also recorded that the old Idanre people descended the hills and resettled at the present foothill location of Idanre town. It has also been noted that every street in the new Idanre town has a replica at the Old-Oke Idanre and every family has been given the right to retain ownership of their family houses at the Old enclave. The people are known to be very proud of their heritage in culture and history and these have never ceased to draw tourists of all ramifications to the hilltop site. However, in order to reach the hilltop village site, one will have to ascend 653 steps that leads up the hills.
Olofin cave is another awe-inspiring cave situated at an highly inaccessible location on the hills and as a result it is rarely visited by tourists. It is said to be the burial site of Olofin, Oduduwa’s son, who was the first Oba of Old Oke-Idanre. It was also said that special spiritual rites have to be performed for the cave to be opened up for tourist visits.
Omi-Iho cave is a picturesque but smaller cave located at the base of a massive outcrop within the present foothill Idanre Town. It has a spring emanating from within it which is said to possess therapeutic powers. People travel down to Idanre to obtain water from this spring for medical purposes. The villagers reiterated that the water can also be used for healing purposes if taken at dawn (just before 6am).
The eye-catching Aghagha inselberg is another site worth seeing on the hills.
Idanre Hills stands out well among all other places, due to its natural and cultural landscape, UNESCO listed on their chart as one of the World Heritage Sites.

Breathtaking Beaches To Visit Away From Home

Every "stressed out" or "vacation loving" being, is familiar with the major key of taking a break from the hustle and bustle of every day life. When planning a get away, it is far too easy to be soaked into visiting the usual tourist 'traps' that happen to be more of a stressor than a reliever. Instead of the over beaten destinations like New York, Safari, Bahamas, Bora Bora, Mexico that flood the timelines of your thousands or hundreds of social media friends, why not consider some amazing eye candies and yet to be discovered beach destinations for your next tourist attraction or escapade.
1. Second Beach, Washington
There are three breathtaking Olympic coast beaches near the Quileute Indian Reservation in Washington which should be on every tourist's bucket list. While the first Beach is quick to access but can get crowded and the third beach may require a difficult mile to cover through a forest, the second beach is in between and just perfect. For the lovers of creeks, spruce trees, and beautiful wildlife, you will almost forget you are near the shoreline as you pass through canopied forest, basking in the faint sound of crashing waves before catching a glimpse of the sea. P.S the first sight of spruce meeting sea may simply leave you breathless. *winks*

2. Cumberland Island, Georgia
The beach is 18 miles of pristine dunes, marshes, woodland. The most incredible attribute to this secluded paradise is the wild horses that can be seen roaming the beaches. They go about their day happily as visitors enjoy all the island has to offer. Trust me, a quick ferry ride is all that stands between you, untouched sand, and the wild horses that call it all their home.

3. Curaçao
This beach is located in the Dutch Caribbean. Curaçao is known for its nearly perfect weather almost 365 days out of the year. This island has not one, but 35 incredible beaches that are fairly untouched by humans. The island could be a perfect spot for windsurfing. Some of the beaches are in close distance to museums, monuments, restaurants, resorts, e.t.c while others are located in secluded spots surrounded by miles of nature. Curaçao is Caribbean' s best kept secret that is patiently waiting to be discovered. Go for it!

4. West Bay in Roatán, Honduras.
Roatán's West Bay beaches are easily the most neglected beaches of all. With this island's ability to offer off-shore snorkeling, quiet and gated resort villages, and soft white sand, it cannot be beaten. So if you are looking for some peace and quiet for a few days or more, Roatán it is!
